Nikon D7000 Launch: Secrets of the Oxus

In late 2010, I (at Storyhead) begun work on an exclusive, never-seen-before content series created exclusively for Nikon Australia and members of its online community – My Nikon Life.

The result is the very best of branded content – an Indiana Jones-style adventure, which follows renowned photojournalist, explorer and documentary maker David Adams, as he journeys to the mountains of war-torn Afghanistan and explores dangerous and mysterious lands through the lens of the Nikon’s new D7000 camera.

Nikon’s forward thinking take on marketing has resulted in their mission to build a solid online community. ‘MyNikonLife.com.au’ site is today a hub for Nikon’s fans, product buyers as well as photography enthusiasts, professional and amateur, and video has become a proven format of speaking and interacting with this community.

Nikon’s cameras have also evolved to now include HD Video features and their latest is the D7000 – a mid-class Nikon DX-format digital-SLR camera that meets user demands for advanced shooting functions, greater definition and image quality and movie recording, enabling them the high-quality, high-definition shooting that they desire, all in a durable, high-performance, yet compact body.

To showcase the versatility and high performance of the D7000, we worked closely with  David Adams, to create a series of six documentary videos for the MyNikonLife community. The story follows David on assignment through a 2,500 km odyssey on foot, 4WD, motorbike and horseback deep into the grassy plains of Central Asia, the Caspian Sea and finally to the roof of the world on a journey of discovery to a forgotten yet historically mighty river, The Oxus, that could hold the secrets of civilisations that pre-date Ancient Egypt.
